I was reading about the heat and how it’s affecting Oshawa home owners and it mentions two interesting notables:
- The first was that 2 of the 14 beaches in Oshawa are closed due to bacteria!
- The second is how much energy we use in the summer!
The beaches that are closed for swimming:
- Lakeview West Oshawa – Closed.
- Thorah Centennial Park Brock Township – Closed.
You still have 12 other options. Unless you own a pool :-) If not… not to worry because I just checked and currently 157 homes are listed for sale with a pool! They range from $229,900 all the way up to $8,999,900!!! That’s not including condos. Just the freeholds.
Get your free copy of the list here: Homes for sale with pools.
(This includes Oshawa, Whitby, Pickering, Ajax & Bowmanville).
The second part of the article talks about energy consumption. I found it interesting that during the recent heat wave we only reached a high of 24,000 megawatts of energy VS our record of 27,005 used on August 1st of 2006.
So who’s the energy sucker? The portable air conditioners!
So I did a search and currently local REALTORs are offering 1,029 homes for sale with central air. On top of that another 241 homes have forced air heating and no A/C unit… so connecting one is an easy option too! Let me know if interested in that list of homes for sale with A/C units.
FYI: We have noticed that the Oshawa house values tend to favour listings with forced air. It’s not too late to sell your home and upgrade to one that better fits your needs. The fall market will provide many options for people moving in Durham in 2012.
